Just got in from unloading after a successful show at GDF1 :-)
I am so glad I entered only the national classes for my first show at Global!! Although the atmosphere was relatively quiet because it is the beginning of the season, it is a lot for the horses when they have not been in such a place!! The big ring at Global is quite intimidating.
The national show rings are not as impressive, but there are still lots of tents and Pete's nemesis' - flowers!! However, he must have realized that he is now 8 and it's time to be a big boy as we had an amazing school on Friday, with only a little tension.
Saturday he came out so very, very well but I rode too conservatively in case there was spooking or snorting or something happening. But amazingly his focus stayed with me for the whole entire test!! We ended up with a score of 63.4%.
I had a whole new game plan for today which was to throw caution to the wind and go for big trot, ground covering canter all while shoving my hands forward and just riding without worrying about what will happen. It worked! We had a rhythm mistake in the medium trot (need more half halts!), the trot could have been punchier, walk pirouettes he stepped out slightly, canter pirouettes were okay I know he can be better, and the last change after the extended was wonky. All fixable mistakes so now I just need to practice at home! We got the counts on our tempis although they did get tight. But I am excited that all the mistakes are fixable with practice and riding better in the ring! We won the class with a 67.2% and the judge at C a 68.6%, and with that score, also were awarded the USPRE High Point for GDF1!
We are looking forward to the CDI at GDF3, the jog is January 21! Only 10 days away! We will be competing in the PSG and I1 on Thursday and Friday, and the national PSG on Saturday.
