About the clinician:
Allegra Hohm is a dressage rider from Alberta, Canada. Currently based in Wellington, Florida, she travels frequently to coach throughout the USA and Canada. Allegra has trained two horses from 5 years old to the big tour level, and in 2015 was a declared athlete for the Pan American Games. Allegra specializes in improving the communication between horse and rider, and working smart not hard. She utilizes current equine behavior research into her methods along with the classical German training scale. Allegra believes in creating a positive learning environment for both horse and rider and focuses on how correct basics relate to success in the FEI levels. She is a strong proponent of turnout, cross training and humane methods to produce happy athletes.
Why a clinic format:
A two to three day intensive clinic allows for the riders and their horses to progress in their learning quickly in a short period of time and become consciously competent at skills previously lacking. It is helpful for students and their coaches to use clinics as a "check-up" for training and have a fresh pair of eyes on the ground.
What clinics are available:
For the most part, Allegra will tailor each lesson to the experience level and needs of each horse and rider. However it is possible to book a clinic with a goal or outcome in mind. A list of possible topics are:
- Dressage from the Judge's Persepctive, a test riding clinic
- Dressage from the Trainers Perspective, solidify your basics
- Cross training in Dressage, using caveletti and other techniques in your program
- Western Dressage, a classical perspective on a modern twist
Clinics are booked for two to three days (or one day following a competition) and each day there are 8-10 private, 45 minute long sessions. Auditing is welcome and encouraged. It is also possible to book a lecture in the morning or evening on the same topic as the clinic. Clinics are available throughout the US and Canada.
